Solution-oriented and driven by data insights in aviation.

Michael’s journey into aviation began early, shaped by a life across continents and a family legacy in flying. In his youth, he lived in Oman, the Netherlands, and Scotland — experiences that cultivated a love for travel and a global perspective. With a grandfather who was a commercial pilot and a father passionate about recreational flying, Michael developed an early fascination with aviation that naturally led him to pursue a career in the field.

In 2012, after earning a gliding scholarship, Michael moved back to the Netherlands from Scotland to study Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft. Specialising in Air Transport and Operations during his Master’s, he focused his thesis on building a machine learning model to predict taxi-out times at Vienna International Airport — a reflection of his commitment to advancing efficiency and innovation in the field.

Growing up near Scotland’s highlands instilled in him a love for the outdoors. While the Netherlands may lack mountains, Michael stays active by running and cycling in the Dutch countryside, as well as playing golf. In his downtime, he’s also a casual musician, gamer, and home chef.

At MovingDot, Michael works across a variety of fields, including airspace design, safety, and data analysis. He plays a key role in the Dutch Airspace Redesign Programme as part of the Safety Office and as a CONOPS writer, and has conducted safety assessments for offshore helicopter operations in the Netherlands, as well as airspace management and navigation infrastructure changes in the Dutch Caribbean. Michael also has a particular interest in data analysis, having worked on workload studies for tower controllers and noise assessments for new operations at Schiphol.
