After the successful completion of the phase in which MovingDot performed an assessment on fatigue related risks in the DC-ANSP operational units, implementation projects were initiated. One of these projects focused on an investigation of alternatives to the rostering methodology in use, which meet the requirements for the provision of operational services and minimize potential fatigue hazards. The alternative rosters were developed by MovingDot and partner Déhora in close co-operation with DC-ANSP Executive Management.
By use of the building blocks duty time limits, working position staffing plans, average work hours per week, resilience of the alternative rosters (reserve capacity), and principles for the management of fatigue, alternative rosters were developed for each of the units. Each of the alternatives for each of the units was subjected to fatigue analysis and a roster stress test to check its robustness. This resulted in two alternative rosters for every unit, which were presented to the operational staff and to stakeholders. The next step in the process is for DC-ANSP to make a choice on which of the alternatives will be implemented.
