Framework management professionalization of the department responsible for road network management in Rijkswaterstaat

MovingDot conducted a research for the department for road network management of Rijkswaterstaat.

In fall 2014 MovingDot conducted a research for the department for road network management of Rijkswaterstaat, to examine improvements for the quality and the framework management of operational documentation. The operational part of this department uses operational documentation for their work execution.

Based on interviews with operational staff, an inventory of current documentation and framework management, and based on experience in aviation, MovingDot produced recommendations for the department. The recommendations included distinction between mandatory and optional practices, consistency in lay-out and writing style in documentation, and consistent use of a change process.

To implement these recommendations, MovingDot advised to set up a program ‘Professionalization Operational Documentation’. This program should consist of the implementation of a national operational manual and optimization of documentation management.
