Multidisciplinary, organised, and with an eye for detail.

Ruben has been fascinated by aviation since childhood. He spent hours playing various flight simulators after school, and always felt especially excited when flying to holiday destinations. He combined his passion for aviation with other interests such as management and operations by pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis, and Management in the domain of Transport & Logistics at TU Delft. Alongside the bachelor, he also followed an Honours programme which culminated in a published article on perceived accessibility of long-distance air transportation.

During his bachelor, Ruben obtained a real interest in organisational, operational, and process management. This prompted him to pursue two masters degrees simultaneously: the first at TU Delft to further specialise in transportation network design with an elective focus on aviation, and a second part-time master in management and business administration at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. His two masters theses were also focused on aviation. The first, at Erasmus University, investigated the impact of financial investment in airport capacity expansions on departure delays. The second, at TU Delft, involved developing a radar-based simulation model for various operational dispatch towing policy alternatives for Schiphol Airport.

At MovingDot, Ruben has contributed to projects about reducing aircraft engine/APU use and emissions at Schiphol Airport, designing new operating procedures for the ANWB Medical Air Assistance program, and he is involved in the development of FastDot, a fast-time ground air traffic simulator tool.

In his free time, Ruben enjoys playing sports such as hockey and futsal, and on weekends you might encounter him on his roadbike.
